THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, San Francisco, Calif. — Stephen Curry, the most prolific 3-point shooter in the National Basketball Association’s history, set another milestone and he did so fashionably in front of his hometown crowd.

Curry made two 3-pointers to be the first NBA player to reach 4,000 career treys in the Golden State Warriors 130-104 trouncing of the Sacramento Kings on March 13. Curry completed the feat 1 day before his 37th birthday.

Draymond Green had 23 points, including 4 made 3-pointers for the Warriors (38-28, 20-13 at Chase Center). Jonathan Kuminga returns to action to score 18 points off the bench. Moses Moody scored 17 points and Buddy Hield finished with 16 for the Warriors.

The spectators in Chase Center erupted in joy as if it were a gladiator slaying a lion in the Roman Collesuem. The passion was so great that the 10-time NBA All-Star said he felt it himself.

“I could feel the energy and the buzz from the beginning of the game after I made my first 3, even the second one I shot and missed it," Curry told PUBLICITY AGENTS. "It was an adrenaline rush, and they were with me every moment of the game tonight.

Curry continued, “When that second one went in I knew there was a lot of game left so I tried to not get too ahead of myself. But it was a special moment to feel that energy and allow them to enjoy that milestone and accomplishment with me.”

Curry made his 399th 3-pointer at the 5:35 mark of the 1st quarter, assisted by Jonathan Kuminga. The 400th triple arrived at the 8:19 tick of the 3rd frame, assisted by Moses Moody. Defended intensely by the Kings, he ended the game with 11 points, making 4 of 9 shots from the field and 2 of 6 in 3-point territory.

Curry made his 1st 3-pointer of his career on Oct. 9, 2009, on the road at the 1:00 mark of the 2nd quarter against the Phoenix Suns. He made his 2,000 trey with 44 seconds left in the 3rd quarter against the New Orleans Pelicans on Dec. 4, 2017.

Curry has not shot under 40% in 3-point territory in three of his 16 seasons in the league. He set the single-season record in made threes with 402 during the 2015-2016 season. Sacramento interim head coach Doug Christie played with Curry's father Dell Curry in Toronto back in the day. He was all praise for the shooter who revolutionized long-range shooting on all levels of basketball.

“He’s changed the game in so many different ways, from seeing him as a little kid in Toronto shooting it from his hip to standing behind him on the sideline and he’s shooting it in your eye," Christie said. "A lot of credit to him. That’s an incredible story. Knowing and playing with his father, and watching his family, watching the man he’s become, the player, knowing the hours and the commitment that it takes to do something as great as he does it, is humbling in many ways. Massive, massive amount of respect.”

DeMar DeRozan had 23 points, 7 assists, and 5 rebounds for the Kings (33-32, 17-17 on the road), who have dropped their last 3 contests. Keon Ellis had 18 points in a reserve role, while Zach LaVine made 5 of 6 shots from the floor for 14 points. Christie is 20-13 as the Kings' interim leader.

The Warriors led by 23 points in the 2nd quarter before leading by 61-51 at the half. Golden State made 11 of 17 shots beyond the arc in the first 15 minutes of the game, ending with 12 of 21 treys in the first half.

The Kings cut the Warriors’ lead 67-63 on a basket by Trey Lyles early in the 3rd quarter. Golden State held on to bump the lead back by 14 points before holding a 96-83 advantage through 3 quarters.

After Green assisted Kuminga on an uncontested Alley-Oop at the 4-minute mark of the final quarter, Christie started to empty his bench. Warriors head coach Steve Kerr followed suit.

The Warriors made 22 of 39 (56.4%) shots beyond the arc. Eight Golden State players had 4 or more rebounds.

PA IMPRESSIONS:

* Listed as questionable hours before tipoff, the Kings decided to scratch Domantas Sabonis, missing his 7th-straight game with a hamstring pull.
