“Obviously, 27 3-point (attempts) isn't enough and 23 assists, but 60 points in the paint is solid and got to bring those turnovers down, but all in all, in a game that we really needed, guys came with the proper focus and attention to detail to get it done.”

– Sacramento Kings interim coach Doug Christie

THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, Sacramento, Calif. — The Sacramento Kings lit the purple lazer after beating the Portland Trail Blazers 128-107 to stop a 4-game losing streak and end their 7-game homestand with a 3-4 record.

Zach Lavine had 29 points, while Domantas Sabonis added 22 points, 19 rebounds, and 6 steals for the Kings (36-37, 19-19 at Golden 1 Center). DeMar DeRozan scored 21 points and dished out 10 assists in 37 minutes.

Keegan Murray produced another firm performance with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Keon Ellis had 6 steals. Now the Kings will set sail on a 6-game road trip before finishing their last 3 contests at G1C.

"Yeah, we didn’t perform well, and we knew that," LaVine said. "So it’s good to go on the road feeling better about ourselves and having more of a real game under our belt to where we can actually go show something and have some type of energy going into this road trip. This road trip is tough too so we have energy going into it.”

Deni Avdija had 24 points and 9 rebounds for the Trail Blazers (32-42, 12-24 on the road), who are currently on a 3-game losing streak. Shaedon Sharpe and Anfernee Simons had 22 and 20 points, respectively. Duop Reath had 17 points off the bench.

The Kings started the game making 15 of 24 shots from the field and built up a 10-point lead before ending the frame with a 36-27 advantage. Sacramento had 20 points in the paint in the 1st 12 minutes.

DeMar DeRozan’s 2 free throws with 12 seconds left on the clock gave the Kings their biggest margin at 68-50 and lead at halftime. LaVine made 9 of 12 shots from the floor, including 2 made 3-pointers, for 20 points in the 1st half.

LaVine’s 6-foot bank shot of the glass gave the Kings a 109-86 lead early in the final phase of the game. The Trail Blazers never got closer than 19 points to the Kings’ lead. Both teams cleared the bench at the 1:51 mark of the final frame.

"We’ve been playing the best teams in the league the last couple of games," Simon said. "I think tonight is the only night where I feel like we didn’t bring it (defense) on that end like we usually do.”

With 9 games remaining, the Kings currently stand alone in 9th place in the Association’s Western Conference, but the Dallas Mavericks are on their heels in 10 place with a 36-38 record. The Phoenix Suns are 1 full game behind the Kings and Mavericks with a 35-38 dossier.
