THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, California — Simply put, the host of the award-winning “The Rachel Maddow Show” on cable's MSNBC, Rachel Maddow, in many circles, undoubtedly is considered a brilliant political analyst. Her journalistic body of work speaks for itself.
Maddow is also an astute local, national, and world affairs reporter with top-notch investigative skills, rivaled only by her MSNBC colleague and friend, Chris Hayes. Hayes hosts "All With Chris Hayes."
Maddow first caught the attention of political listeners by gaining national fame as a host on the liberal Air America Radio network, where she worked from its starting point in 2004.
Maddow was introduced as a MSNBC political analyst in January of 2008. Nine months later, "The Rachel Maddow Show (RMS)” was launched, and in return, became the most successful show in MSNBC history.
The new show, prompted a surge in ratings in its time slot when it debuted in September 2008. RMS takes on the monumental stories and issues of the day as well as hold lively debates with intriguing guests and experts.
Maddow received a bachelor’s degree in public policy from Stanford University in Northern California. From there, she obtained her doctorate in political science at Oxford University, Maddow attended Oxford on a Rhodes Scholarship.
To her credit, Maddow was has been honored by the Interfaith Alliance with the Walter Cronkite Faith and Freedom Award and received the 2012 John Steinbeck Award from the Center for Steinbeck Studies at San Jose University.
Maddow is the author of “DRIFT: The Unmooring of American Military Power,”which debuted at No. 1 on the New York Times bestsellers list in March 2012.
She lives in New York City and Massachusetts with her partner, artist Susan Mikula.
